We, Delfines Hotel Management, had our first outreach program for the less fortunate children aged 6-10 last August 24, 2019 in Tondo, Manila. In participation with Barangay Chairman Alex Espinosa, we were able to get 25 kids per street to join our fun and exciting program!

PREPARATION

Who says Santa Claus only exists on Christmas? We too can be our own version! We prepared complete set of food and sanitary supplies for each recipient weeks in advance. We highly prioritized them on the list because food and hygiene are both daily needs.

And of course, this rainy season, we bought umbrellas for the kids to keep themselves on shield while going home from school or outside. We chose the color combination of our logo for two different shades of blue. Aren’t they cool packed?

PROGRAM DAY

It was a hustle and rainy morning when we arrived to the venue to set-up the collaterals and supplies. But good thing everyone managed to join us despite the heavy rain! While we were waiting for the list to be completed led by Janelle, Rio and Princess, we offered them breakfast.

We started the program by giving children lessons about the history, culture and tourism of the Philippines led by Eve. They listened and even get to answer the questions after the lesson! Each kid who answered right received their deserving prize.

The next activity awakened all kid’s presence – games led by Val and Eve! The moment it was heard, they were all excited to join. We had tons of games such as Bring Me, Hep Hep Hurray, Stop Dance, Group Yourselves, Sack Race, Trip to Jerusalem and Longest Word. Even those who didn’t win yet were given a chance to play solo with others! See how lively and energetic these kids were. It also seemed that this was their favorite part of the program. Shoutout to our 3 boys who awarded them prizes (Vincent, Carl and Awen). And Sounds, Rachel for the awesome tracks.

We paused for a while to send a message from our General Manager, Jiadi Lin as represented by Cathy. The message was both for the kid and guardian saying how important education is for a child, how important it is for them to aspire a role, and how important for them to be a good example to their child growing up.

Last but not the least, since kids got tired of playing, we offer them packed lunch. Together with the distribution of food and sanitary supplies, we had a positive feedback on good and quality set of supplies from the recipients. Even the guardians liked them!

We aim not just to give back, but to contribute to what we have around us. We’d like to reach out the needy and contribute to our environment, especially the kids who are our future. This day may pass, but this memory will stay and give importance to them when they grow up. A smile on their faces means a lot to our efforts.

We would like to express gratitude to Barangay Chairman Alex Espinosa, the Kagawads for assistance, and everyone who participated at our special event. Kudos to teamwork for making this program successful! #DHMOutreach
